Hellberta #1 by Michael Comeau
One of our first commissions and the prequel to our second publication, it’s the first issue of Michael Comeau’s Hellberta trilogy. Published by Koyama Press, Issue 1 was awarded the Doug Wright Award for best in Experimental or Avant-garde Comics at the 2012 Toronto Comic Arts Festival.
Jeet Heer, of the Wright Awards nominating committee described Hellberta as “Many things — a pastiche of superhero comic, a political satire, a post-apocalyptic fable – all melded together to form a single nightmarish vision.
